How to Transfer Music from iTunes to Android?

author 2014-03-17 posted by Jacqueline Ho in Perth

Got an Android phone? Ready to say goodbye to your MP3 player and move your music onto your smartphone? Of course you are! Now it's just a matter of figuring out how.

Unlike iPhones, iPod touch and other iOS devices, Android devices behave similarly to external storage devices (like external hard drives and USBs). This means when you plug in the Android phone, you can see all the files and programs on the phone the same way you could look at the files and programs on your computer. Also, it's easier to move files around, even add an entire music library to the phone for barrier-free listening.

The first way we'll show you how to transfer iTunes playlist to Android is the manual method. Basically, we'll take you through how you can navigate your computer to copy and paste your music files onto the device.

However, if you want to accomplish the task more directly, or want to manage your music and playlists so you get only the music you want to listen to, exactly the way you want to listen to it, the manual drag-and-drop method isn't the best route. So, we'll also walk you through the KiwiG PhonTunes method.

KiwiG PhonTunes is a powerful free music management software, capable of transferring music back-and-forth between computers, iOS devices, Android devices, and external storage devices like hard drives and USBs. In addition to two-click transferring between all your digital tools, PhonTunes also allows you to detect duplicate songs, create playlists, change song details like album and artist, and move ratings and number of plays along with the song.

So first, let's look at the manual method.

How to manually get music from iTunes to Android:

Step 1Plug in your Android phone to your computer using the USB cord that came with the phone when you purchased it.

Step 2Go to My Computer and open your Android phone's file directory. In the file directory, open Internal Storage, and then open Music.

Step 3Open My Computer again in a separate window (do this by right-clicking My Computer and select ‘open in a new window'). Keep the Android Music file open. Find your iTunes music library: Open Music, inside Music open iTunes, then open iTunes Media, then open Music.

Step 4Select all the files in the iTunes Music folder by pressing Ctrl+A. Drag and drop or Copy/Paste the files from this folder into the Android Music folder. And you're done!

Now for the other method, using some music transfer freeware, KiwiG PhonTunes.

How to move music from iTunes to Android with KiwiG PhonTunes:
